Why Adventure Time is the Ultimate Cartoon →
There’s no real backstory, there’s no complicated explanation about why a kid is hanging out with a talking dog, there’s no theoretical limits placed on Finn and Jake’s adventures, apart from a unique set of basic, malleable physics. It just is, and that’s the kind of unrestrained, uncomplicated storytelling that makes it beautiful.

Sometime ago Congress quietly passed a bill requiring all seats (e.g. chairs, sofas, stools) to come equipped with seat belts. We who didn’t keep up with the news were surprised to find seat belts everywhere: in our living rooms, in our work and home offices, on park benches. We would wear the seatbelts as a joke saying funny things like better safe than sorry and buckle up: it’s the law....
